Violinist Itzhak Perlman hosts this tribute to the musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with Pinchas Zukerman conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The program includes the overture from The Marriage of Figaro, Rondo in C Major, Adagio in E major (on which Zukerman solos on violin) and the Sinfonia Concertante in E Flat Major.
It's a string thing of great beauty. However, except for an amusing opera spoof by guest Victor Borge, it's not much to look at. (Classical performances on TV never are—but at least they make the cameramen onstage wear tuxedos.) So get up and float around the room. Or play air baton. Enjoy.
