Hard to believe it has been 18 years since Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett last teamed up for a variety special. They clearly haven't spent the time assembling material for a reunion, as this slapdash show indicates. The longest routines are the worst—a silly rap number and an embarrassing countrified spoof of The Phantom of the Opera that wouldn't pass muster on Hee Haw. Cloying and artificial, Julie and Carol is only slightly redeemed by the verve of the two old pros who are its stars.
