If Miami Vice was MTV cops, Desperado is MTV cowboys—with its postcard visual sheen, its slow-motion shootouts and the rock-star looks of leading man Alex McArthur. In Badlands Justice, our loner hero becomes the sheriff of a town that is being squeezed by blackhearted businessmen John Rhys-Davies and James B. Sikking. Though this installment is padded and contrived in its second hour, once again, Desperado—which has appeared four times in TV-movie form—provides a good excuse to kick off your boots, unbuckle your brain and set a spell.
