Picks and Pans Review: New on Video

>THE WIT STOPS HERE: UNCLE BUCK

As subtle as the bowling ball that bonks John Candy on the head early on, this film is another misuse of the mega-comic's talents. The highlight of the movie—about a misfit and the nieces and nephew who put up with him—is the familial chemistry that develops between Candy and young Jean Kelly. Teen titan John Hughes directed, often tastelessly. (MCA)

WE GET NO KICKS OUT OF HIM: KARATE KID PART III Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita are still resident bozo-sans in the saga's third installment. (RCA/Columbia)
