The latest in the channel's successful Going Home musical series focuses on pop queen King, interspersing California concert footage with New York interview segments. Onstage in San Diego, King belts out songs from her albums, from the megasuccessful Tapestry to her latest, City Streets. She also covers a number of the Top 40 hits such as "Locomotion," "A Natural Woman" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday" that she wrote with then husband Gerry Goffin for other artists.

Her reputation is primarily that of a songwriter, not a performer, and indeed the singer here isn't quite as good as the songs. But the band cooks, Carole plays a robust piano, and she clearly is very eager to please.
