>GREEN YEGG, HAM: BREAKING IN Young Casey Siemaszko is a casual burglar who sneaks into people's houses for the thrill of it; Burt Reynolds is an aging, no-nonsense professional thief. The coincidence of their meeting while ransacking the same house is tough to swallow, but the odd coupling generates some engaging comic bits. And Reynolds, his smirky style toned into a nearly sentimental cynicism by director Bill {Local Hero) Forsyth, is witty and touching. (HBO)

BAD WRAP: THE PACKAGE Unlike Loose Cannons, this flagrantly implausible film was not beyond redemption, and Gene Hackman, aided by Joanna Cassidy and Dennis Franz, redeemed it into the realm of the watchable. Hackman is an Army sergeant who uncovers a conspiracy between American and Soviet officers to assassinate a glasnost-mongering Soviet premier; Cassidy is an Army colonel and Hackman's ex-wife; Franz is a Chicago cop. (Orion)
