Picks and Pans Review: Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom on Ice Starring Pinocchio

UPDATED 03/05/1990 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 03/05/1990 at 01:00 AM EST

"Yippee! Pinocchio rescued Geppetto!," whooped Nick, 3, waving his souvenir sword in ecstasy. A few scenes before, he was dancing in his seat to "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me)." This Disney-staged ice tour mines the traditional Pinocchio story and film score to put on a fast-paced, whimsical show. "I liked the whale and that Geppetto wasn't dead," said Nick, while Kate was mesmerized by a neon-laced "under the sea" episode featuring skating sea horses, starfish and lobsters. Everybody went for Goofy's cameo, the pratfalling clowns and Kristiina Wegeius's enchanting Blue Fairy. (Tickets $7.50-$11.50; touring the East in March)
