For a guy who played the spindly, spavined Smike in Nicholas Nickleby, David Threlfall makes a pretty good action hero. But in this British espionage film, he needs help from the sound-effects people. In America we expect more thunder in our fight scenes, not the dull watery noise Threlfall gets when he throws a punch.
He stars as a former British special agent recruited to interdict an arms shipment to the IRA. Like the other offerings in the channel's series of Frederick Forsyth stories, this film, which co-stars Shelley Hack, is smartly paced and very European-looking, but uneven in terms of verisimilitude.
