This installment of the family series Wonderworks, based on Roald Dahl's children's story, is indeed a family affair. Jeremy Irons and his 9-year-old son, Samuel, play the owners of a small auto-repair garage in the verdant English countryside. Cyril Cusack, Samuel's real-life grandfather, is the dotty village doctor.

It's 1955, and the local manor has been bought by a crass cad (Robbie Coltrane) who wants to drive the Ironses off their land. They lock into a test of wills and of poaching skills. Nicely played and lovely to look at, Danny, which was released theatrically in Britain and aired on the Disney Channel once last year, is altogether charming.
