JoBeth Williams is a consulting psychologist called in to deal with a traumatized 8-year-old who witnessed his father's murder at a Seattle marina. Thorn (Riptide) Bray is her boss. Tom Skerritt is the investigating detective, and Darren McGavin is the boy's grandfather.
Despite a number of red herrings and more suspects than Perry Mason could shake his cane at, the mystery is not very suspenseful. Skerritt and Williams, both of whom starred in Poltergeist movies (not the same ones), are quite good together in a realistic romance. But the boy (Elijah Wood) is called upon to do much more than he's able to, especially a series of goofy Peter Pan fantasies.
