Armchair adventurers, it's time to don the trusty old pith helmet. This special ostensibly recounts the occupational hazards faced by three wildlife filmmakers, Alan Root, Dieter Plage and Jeff Foott. But with all the brushes with death, it's really a deep bush version of Bloopers & Bleeders as we face charging elephants, mountain gorillas and the like. There are wonderful up-close shots of hippos, cobras and less threatening species like flamingos and sea otters.
With all this great nature footage, it's a shame that William Devane's narration and the setups with the three filmmakers are so contrived.
