In a nice little conceit, aging mystery writer Agatha Christie (Peggy Ashcroft) is visited by her fictional creation, dapper detective Hercule Poirot (Ian Holm), when he learns she is about to publish a book in which he is killed off.
Once the pair is joined and try to do each other to death in Christie's cozy country parlor, most of the cleverness and surprise goes out of the entertainment. Frankly, in a battle to the finish like this, I'd take the late Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple against these two any day.
