>Let's hope that Texas country-rocker Joe Ely bought his mama a satellite dish with the money he's made entertaining in honky-tonks all these years because this weekend he's all over the tube. On Saturday night he's the featured performer on TNN's The Texas Connection (July 14, 10:30 P.M. ET), where he's joined by Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock. A little later Ely shows up during a segment of Showtime's Coast to Coast (11 P.M. ET) at Chicago's Vic Theatre, along with John Hiatt, John Prine and Guy Clark. The following evening he gets the spotlight to himself again on A & E's Diamond Showcase (July 15, 10 P.M. ET) in a concert taped in Dublin, Ireland. That's one busy cowboy.
