In a handsome if vacuous Western, Anthony Edwards plays a comic tenderfoot who assembles a ragtag posse (including gun-slinger Louis Gossett Jr., con man John Glover and Indian brave Branscome Richmond) to go into Mexico after a notorious bandit (Robert Beltran).

As in other postmodern Westerns—Goin' South, for instance—a weak irony is attached to everything but the violence. While the whole cast is shooting for outrageousness, only Joe (Midnight Run) Pantoliano as a peacock of a dime novelist hits the mark.
