There was a horrible precedent set in CBS's All-Star baseball game coverage: In a pre-game feature, actors performed a playlet involving Chicago sportswriter Arch Ward, who originated the game, and Cubs legend Ernie Banks as a boy. Hey, if dramatic reenactments don't belong on TV news, they're even less welcome on sports. I don't want to turn on Sportsworld and see a dramatization of a teenage Jose Canseco experiencing a growth spurt or a re-creation of the day Carl Lewis got the inspiration for his haircut.
