Picks and Pans Review: The Fanelli Boys

The most promising sitcom of the season revolves dizzily around four Italian brothers in Brooklyn. There's the sleazy wheeler-dealer (Joe Pantoliano), the responsible one (Ned Eisenberg), the doltish womanizer (laugh machine Christopher Meloni) and the baby of the family (Andy Hirsch). For good measure add Mama (weak link Ann Guilbert) and the brothers' uncle (the marvelous Richard Libertini), who is also the parish priest.

The show, which now moves to its regular spot on Wednesdays at 9, still needs fine-tuning. But the way it has stacked the deck with funny characters augurs well for a long run. For now:
