During WW II, young Sara (Roseanne) Gilbert secretly befriends a black man (Lou Gossett Jr.) at a time when a child molester is active in their small racist town in Georgia. It's like watching Michael Jordan dribbling circles around mere mortals to see the way Gossett towers over the cast of this sexually frank but lax melodrama.
