Picks and Pans Review: New on Video

A kind of animated mix of Heaven Can Wait and Ghost, with a few canine-oriented touches of Dante's Inferno thrown in, this feature-length cartoon may be a bit too scary for very young children—say those under 6 or so. Otherwise, it's a snappy 85 minutes, with Burt Reynolds supplying the voice of Charlie, the pooch who gets a reprieve on his way to the big Dog House in the Sky, and Dom DeLuise as Charlie's pal Itchy. Melba Moore and Loni Anderson are among the other voices, and there's some affable music too. Don (An American Tail) Bluth directed. (MGM/UA)
