B+

An assassin (William Devane) with more high-tech hardware than Inspector Gadget kills wealthy targets and then bills the unwitting beneficiaries of their deaths. What sounds like an outrageous premise in fact makes for a piquant TV-movie thriller, nicely played by Devane, Patrick Duffy as the police commissioner obsessed with capturing him and Charles Robinson as a detective. Despite some flat stretches, director Alan Metzger does a fine job of tightening the screws of suspense.
