CBS (Fit, Oct. 5, 9 P.M. ET)

To her chagrin, a woman (Rue McClanahan) preparing to marry a younger man (Patrick Duffy) must deal with the hostility of her four unhappy, adult children (Kristy McNichol, Jack Coleman, Anne Bobby and Conor O'Farrell). Unpleasantries abound as her troubled offspring aren't exactly thrilled to see each other either.

The TV movie is a soap-operatic drama with improbable stabs at levity (e.g., a bar brawl involving three generations and both sexes). The script, while tight, is superficial and sometimes mean-spirited. The only cast member to invest any amount of believability in her character is McNichol. She plays a pregnant nun. And you thought you had problems.
