It's a bonanza for film cultists as MGM/UA offers—in addition to the 1952 Hollywood exposé The Bad and the Beautiful with Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner—this seething look at the New York gossip scene, circa 1957. Burt Lancaster plays a reputation-trashing columnist, and Tony Curtis, never better, is a groveling press agent out for revenge. Both films, in glorious black-and-white, are down-and-dirty gems.
