The advent of the VCR was enough to restore any parent's faith in Santa. What better way than providing a tape or two to keep the impatient youths busy while Mom and Dad do the last-minute shopping, wrap the presents, shovel the snow, trim the tree, make the stuffing and otherwise have a relaxing holiday season. A couple of long-on-the-market tapes—How the Grinch Stole Christmas (MGM/UA, $14.95) and Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (Random House, $19.95)—remain the very models of seasonal videos for children, but there are plenty of newer choices.
