The entire cast unashamedly and unabashedly leaps into a howling hoot of a 17th-century soap opera inspired by Barbara Cartland. Lithe Lysette Anthony plays your basic lady in distress who's saved from rape, shame and poverty by Hugh Grant as your basic mysterious highwayman known as the Silver Blade. Emma Samms gets to play the evil sex symbol who tries to tempt the Blade: "No man has ever resisted me.... We could share a carnival of pleasure." With the equally evil Oliver Reed and Christopher Cazenove, Samms tries to get the good guys framed and killed. What's your bet that the ending is a happy one?
