Picks and Pans Review: Friendship's Death

It's difficult to work up interest in Peter Wollen's punishingly claustrophobic sci-fi treatise about an extraterrestrial (Tilda Swinton) and a journalist (Bill Paterson) who are holed up in a hotel room in Amman in 1970 discussing political and ethical questions while the Jordanian Army and the PLO make war outside. If you can't understand why it's difficult, here's the movie for you. (Not rated)
