I find myself watching The Pat Sajak Show on CBS almost every night now for two reasons: First, Pat's making a pretty good show. Second, unlike the competition, Pat's simply making shows. Period. While Johnny and Dave rest on their laurels and their rears, giving us rerun after rerun after rerun, Pat is giving us fresh television. He produces a 90-minute talkfest, not a 60-minute shortie. He does it five times a week, not merely three or four. And so far, he hasn't had time for reruns. (And he does all this while he keeps handing out money on the nighttime Wheel of Fortune.) Wow. This gives me new hope for the American economy. It is possible to make good without an MBA. And there is someone who still believes in hard work: Pat Sajak. They ought to put him in charge of all CBS. Yes, he could do for TV what Lee Iacocca did for Detroit. He's an inspiration, that Pat.
