Sharon Gless plays an unhappy woman in a too-tiny town who visits the local federal prison to bring the word of God to the inmates. Instead, Scott (The Right Stuff) Glenn brings a sexual flush to her face when he tells her: "I'm more 'n a little bit dangerous, and that, just plain 'n' simple, ain't what you're about." Gless soon proves him wrong by arranging to break Glenn, Max (Barney Miller) Gail and another con out of prison. The Outside Woman is supposed to be inspired by a true story, but really it is just a condescending collection of clichés about American country folk.
