So let's get this straight: Robin Givens (the former Mrs. Mike Tyson) plays a rich young woman who spends a nightmarish time locked in a luxurious home with a violent and strange man who loves her but hurts her, then wants to marry her. Is this a joke or just typecasting? David Hewlett plays a fugitive from a mental ward who tracks down his childhood buddy, Givens, in the lush apartment owned by her rich, record-executive dad, Robert Guillaume. Givens lets the guy inside—her first mistake—and he announces that he blocked the exit with dynamite. Then come all the standard hostage-movie scenes: cops arguing with cops about whether to shoot or sympathize with the lunatic, the angry father demanding action, the screaming hostage crying herself dry. If you were in this flick, you'd cry too.
