>THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN Director Terry Gilliam and production designer Dante Ferretti fill the screen with so many arresting images—from a fantastic moonscape to teeming street scenes—that it's almost enough to compensate for the film's erratic script.

COUSINS Vancouver deserved over-the-title billing for providing the sunny settings of this romantic comedy, transplanted from France.

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA Light, heat, expanse, timelessness—no film, through sheer image alone, could create a more palpable atmosphere than this golden achievement by director David Lean and cinematographer Freddie Young.
