Picks and Pans Review: The Touche Ross Video Tax Guide 1989
This is the giant accounting firm's slick guide to financial planning (though its own financial planning clearly takes precedence; the current tape is 20 percent shorter and about 33 percent more expensive than last year's). In 60 minutes, the company's national director of tax practice, Gerald Padwe, provides only the thinnest overview of the subject—not much more than an affable CPA might tell you at a cocktail party. So while it offers up some good advice, particularly on how to handle an audit, the tape is short on detail. It doesn't work, and was not intended, as a step-by-step guide to filling out a 1040.
