Picks and Pans Review: Arthur Andersen Tax Guide and Planner 1989

UPDATED 03/20/1989 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 03/20/1989 at 01:00 AM EST

If the idea of buying a guide as big as a telephone book intimidates you, you might be comforted by this one's manageable size (only 246 pages) and sympathetic tone ("If there's anything more painful than paying taxes," it assures frazzled taxpayers, "it's maintaining the records you need to support your return"). There are some omissions (this is the only book that doesn't show a 1040 filled in), but none egregious. Drought deduction? Lists as deductible, "but only if sufficiently sudden." (Perigee, $7.95)
