The publishers of this book, now in its 52nd year, have had a head start organizing the material, and it shows. The book is easy to read and complete (its list of nondeductible casualty losses includes such improbabilities as "Death of a saddle horse after eating a silk hat" and "Improper police seizure of private liquor stock"). Drought deduction? Gives specific advice: "Inspect your property...that year to negate an IRS argument that the damage was caused by progressive deterioration." Bravo! (J.K. Lasser Institute, $10.95)
