The group, Christmas, and the song are forgettable, but the video is an all-time kick. Over the only image—the trio performing the tune—scrolls a "first draft" scenario for the video that sends up the genre's manifold excesses. At one point the script (written by guitarist Michael Cudahy) reads: "The ceiling of the auditorium unfolds like peeling paint, and God's hand descends, placing a 30-ft. tall bust of Voltaire formed by thousands of trained slugs on the stage." Say, Madonna, ever thought of trying that one?
