What is the meaning of life? Why is the sky blue? What, if anything, does a Scotsman wear underneath his kilt? For 4-year-old Christopher Chudleigh, the answer to Cosmic Question No. 3 should be perfectly clear by now. Christopher got the opportunity to satisfy his scientific curiosity when Mike Rowan, a globe-trotting bagpiper from Glasgow who uses the nom de plaid Big Rory, played recently in Melbourne, Australia. If Big Rory seems to be an especially Big Mac, it's because there's a lot of stilt under his kilt, bringing him up to a strapping 9'9". So what does Big Rory wear under his tartan? Christopher refused to say. But really, what are a Scotsman's options in Australia at the end of that country's autumn? He must be wearing Down Under-wear.
