IMMIGRANTS: ALIEN NATION
A spaceship crash-lands, marooning an alien race on Earth. The resultant story is a race-relations allegory—the aliens are ghettoized and treated as sub-humans. But it's most enjoyable as a buddy film of mix-and-match chemistry: James Caan, as a human cop, teams up to solve a murder with Mandy Patinkin, expressive beneath heavy makeup as an upwardly mobile alien detective.
