This is the kind of guy who will do anything for a laugh, even crack tasteless jokes about Karen Carpenter and Rock Hudson. Obviously, the burly stand-up comic (who got favorable attention in the movie The 'Burbs) holds nothing sacred except his need to transgress. Too bad his material, filled with strong language and sexual references, is rarely witty enough to overcome its vulgarity. This special, filmed at the Improv in Los Angeles, has a definite uneasiness to it, especially when Ducommun takes on women. Trying to make something funny out of women's rights, he crosses the line between satire and ugly hostility. A talented comic, he needn't stoop so low to conquer.
