Picks and Pans Review: The Young Riders

They should have called this one Hunks on Horses or Studs on Stallions. Ty Miller, Josh Brolin (son of James) and Steve Baldwin (brother of Alec and Billy of The Preppie Murder; see below) all play pony express riders—along with Travis Fine, Gregg Rainwater and Yvonne Suhor—and will have young girls lining up for their posters. The script? It's nothing to ride home about, but the show is beautifully shot. Too bad this show is as historically inaccurate as every other TV Western. The cowboys are too good, the Indians are too bad, and blacks and Asians are not even represented in the series premiere. That omission mars an otherwise quite watchable program.
