Blondie & Dagwood: C-; Hagar the Horrible: B

Two popular comic strips come to the small screen in separate half-hour cartoon specials. Hagar, the funny-pages Viking with the nagging wife, is by far the wittier. Its Flintstones feel should not be surprising since it was produced by the Hanna-Barbera animation outfit that made Fred and Wilma a prehistoric sitcom. Peter Cullen does a convincing Viking voice as Hagar; Lainie Kazan is Mrs. Hagar, Helga.

Over on the Bumsteads' block, veteran impressionist Frank Welker is fine as the perennially harassed Dagwood, but Loni Anderson is a bit inexpressive as Blondie.
