>ALL IN THE FAMILY: CHANCES ARE The big joke of this film concerns potential incest between Robert Downey Jr., who is the reincarnated spirit of Cybill Shepherd's dead husband, and Mary Stuart Masterson, who plays the daughter of Shepherd and Downey's former self. That's enough confusion and distasteful behavior for a whole yearful of movies. Meanwhile, Ryan O'Neal hangs around, lusting after Shepherd in a particularly ineffectual fashion. If comedies are supposed to make the skin crawl, this one's a big success. (RCA/Columbia)

THE DATING GAME: SAY ANYTHING

That rarity, a teen-oriented film that's neither square nor stupid, it's about a romance between shy John Cusack and smart-sweet Ione Skye. Lili Taylor and Amy Brooks play Cusack's buddies who try to steer him away from Skye. John Mahoney, as her father, is—hallelujah!—an adult who isn't a caricature. (MGM/UA)
