BAA, BAA, BAA. ENOUGH about the sheep. May we suggest another U.K. candidate for cloning? Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale, 29, has already been declared "quite the genetically engineered mid-'90s pop star" by Rolling Stone. Unfortunately for the London native, who played semipro soccer while at Westminster School, what fans can't get over—his sinewy jawline and perfect hair—the critics can't get past. They've written him off as a pretty-boy Nirvana wannabe (rumored to "have had a fling with Courtney Love, he is now dating No Doubt's Gwen Stefani). "Women have always lost it over Gavin," says video director Shawn Mortensen, who has worked with the band. "Even before he was a rock star." The 6'1" Rossdale tries to deflect the attention by hiding his deep-set brown eyes behind his hands on the liner notes of Bush's recent No. 1 CD, Razorblade Suitcase. "I know I say this at the risk of sounding like the David Cassidy of rock," he told Spin in December, "but I've never wished that I was not attractive."
