Talk isn't cheap, either. Roseanne's deal for her 1998 daytime talk show with King World is for up-front cash, partial ownership and a significant amount of stock in King World, the distributor of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Roseanne says she does not view Winfrey as a competitor and will root for her continued success, "because now I own the company." Roseanne's manager, Jeff Wald, adds that Paramount, Universal and Fox all made runs at Roseanne during her negotiations with King World....
One of the many advantages of having producer Aaron Spelling for a father is that his TV shows can provide daughter Tori with an ever-expanding pool of actors from which to choose her dates. I hear that Tori, previously linked with Malibu Shore's Greg Vaughan, is dating Trevor Edmond, who plays the charming but manipulative teenager Michael on the latest of Daddy's shows, Pacific Palisades. But the lifelong vegetarian agreed to wrap herself in lettuce—or, more specifically, a $600 formfitting gown made entirely of collard greens—on behalf of "Lettuce Be Lean," a vegetarian campaign sponsored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. A source at the photo shoot says during the few hours Berkley wore the dress, "she had to be misted every 20 minutes, like a produce section."
