British bassist Ronnie Lane, 51, who helped launch the careers of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood by recruiting them for his band the Faces, died on June 4 in Trinidad, Colo., after more than 20 years of battling multiple sclerosis.
Jay Monahan, 41, MSNBC legal analyst and husband of Today show anchor Katie Couric, 40, underwent surgery for colon cancer in New York City on June 6. Monahan's prognosis is excellent, and he is expected to return to work in a few weeks....
Punk rocker Iggy Pop, 50, was treated for a dislocated shoulder on June 6 after he jumped into a mosh pit and hit a concrete floor during a concert in Columbus, Ohio. According to a fan, the crowd "parted like the Red Sea." The singer resumed touring the following night.
Noel Gallagher, 30, songwriter and guitarist for the rock group Oasis, wed his longtime girlfriend, Meg Matthews, 31, an executive with the group's record label, in Las Vegas on June 5.
Television producer Steven Bochco, 53, and his wife, actress Barbara Bosson, 57, who costarred on her husband's series Hill Street Blues and Murder One, have separated after 28 years of marriage. They have two grown children....

Author Salman Rushdie, 50, who has been living under a death sentence imposed by the Iranian government since 1989, welcomed his second son late last month in London. The mother, known only as Ms. X to protect her identity, has been with the author for three years. Rushdie already has an adult son.
Mick Jagger, 53, and his wife, model Jerry Hall, 40, are expecting their fourth child in December. Hall consulted a divorce lawyer last October, after Jagger was allegedly caught by a photographer embracing actress Uma Thurman. The couple apparently worked their problems out privately and remained together.
