Ohio Senator and former astronaut John Glenn is at it again: In October, when he'll be 77, Glenn will take a 10-day trip on the shuttle Discovery and become by far the oldest man ever to enter space. In 1962, Glenn, then just a 40-year-old whipper-snapper, was the first American to orbit Earth.

Soul Food's Vivica A. Fox, 33, is engaged to R&B singer Christopher Harvest, 28 (whose stage name, Sixx-Nine, reflects his height; she measures 5'8"). The wedding is set for Dec. 19.

After pleading no contest to battery on Jan. 12, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, 35, was ordered by a judge to undergo 12 hours of anger-management therapy in Los Angeles. Lee must also pay an $1,800 fine, $17,500 in restitution to his victim, video cameraman Henry Trappler, and perform 200 hours of community service, all as a result of a 1996 tussle in which Lee threw Trappler to the ground outside a Los Angeles club....

A woman who claims that for nearly three decades she was the on-the-road travel companion of the late CBS newsman Charles Kuralt has sued his estate. Patricia Shannon contends Kuralt, who died last Fourth of July at 62, promised her 130 acres and a home they shared in Montana. His widow, Suzanna Baird Kuralt, says her husband intended to leave everything to her and the children. A hearing is scheduled for March 3 in Helena.

Godfather of Soul James Brown, 64, was hospitalized near his Beech Island, S.C., home on Jan. 15 for the treatment of an addiction to painkillers. His agent, Jeff Allen, says the singer got hooked after injuring his back during a Florida concert. "He tried to do a split, and at his age he shouldn't be doing a split," Allen told USA Today.

On Jan. 18, ABC dropped sportscaster Frank Gifford, 67, from the Monday Night Football lineup, replacing him with former New York Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason, 36. Gifford had been calling games on the show since 1971.

Actress Hunter Tylo, 35, who was fired in 1996 by producers of TV's Melrose Place for being pregnant and won $4.9 million in her subsequent wrongful-dismissal suit, gave birth to Katya (7 lbs. 7 ozs.) in Santa Monica on Jan. 15. Hunter has two other children with her hubby, actor Michael Tylo, 49, and a teenage son from a previous marriage.

On Jan. 15, Junior Wells, the influential blues singer and harmonica player, died at 63 in Chicago, as a result of complications from cancer treatment. Wells appears in the movie Blues Brothers 2000, out Feb. 6....

Character actor Emil Sitka, who played roles in dozens of comedies with the Three Stooges between 1947 and 1965, died on Jan. 17 in Camarillo, Calif., following a stroke. He was 83.

Playboy's, Hugh Hefner, 71, and his second wife, Kimberly Conrad Hefner, 35, a former Playmate of the Year, announced a separation on Jan. 20 in Los Angeles, citing "differing interests." The couple married in 1989 and have two children—Marston, 7, and Cooper, 6.
