Picks and Pans Review: The Leading Man

Jon BonJovi, Thandie Newton

A comedy drama, the piddling Leading Man stars rocker BonJovi as a manipulative big-time movie star who, while starring on the London stage, offers to bed the playwright's wife so that the playwright may pursue an affair with the play's leading lady (Newton). The notion that an actor's greatest role may be played offstage is an amusing one, but BonJovi lacks sufficient charisma and charm here to convince us that he's a big movie star whose slightest nod is enough to set the babes a-panting.
