That's a wrap! After 10 seasons and 245 episodes, the cast of Murphy Brown—from left, Joe Regalbuto, Lily Tomlin, Robert Pastorelli, Candice Bergen, Haley Joel Osment, Charles Kimbrough and Faith Ford—called it quits after taping the CBS sitcom's finale in L.A. The hour-long episode, due to air May 18, will feature guest stars Julia Roberts, Bette Midler, George Clooney, Mike Wallace and Alan King, as well as Bergen's mother, Frances. Says original cast member Regalbuto, who plays investigative reporter Frank Fontana: "This has been a life-changing experience."
The Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in L.A. proved bountiful for Janet Jackson (above, with steady Rene Elizondo), who won for Favorite Female Artist-R&B. My Best Friend's Wedding's Rupert Everett (right) presented the film's star, Julia Roberts, with one of her two awards, and picked up one of his own. "I would have been so upset if Rupert had given this to anyone else!" Roberts said.
"It's love, and that's it," a buoyant Kate Winslet told the Daily Mail of her new beau, director Jim Threapleton. The couple posed outside the Titanic star's London home.
Seldom-seen Monica Lewinsky popped up in Washington at a party celebrating Larry King's new book, Future Talk. Claims guest Art Buchwald: "I wasn't invited, I was subpoenaed."
Grease was the word, again, for Olivia NewtonJohn (above) and Jeff Conaway at the L.A. premiere of their musical's 20th-anniversary rerelease. "This movie is going to last forever," says Conaway. Other attendees included Party of Five's Jennifer Love Hewitt (left, in the pink); Titanic's Frances Fisher (far left, with daughter Francesca, 4); and Friends' David Schwimmer (above left, with Kissing a Fool costar and real-life girlfriend Mili Avital).
Actor Paul Newman, currently costarring with Gene Hackman and Susan Sarandon in the detective thriller Twilight, shifted gears for the Grand Prix of Miami. Michael Andretti, racing for the team Newman co-owns, wound up in the victory circle. "Nothing could be better for the team," Newman told USA Today of the finish.
Another motor-loving star, Matthew McConaughey, chauffeured his mother, Kay, in a 1922 Studebaker to the premiere of his new '20s adventure, The Newton Boys, in Austin, Texas. "I like going back in time to retell history," says McConaughey.
