Now the executor of her son's estate, Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, has helped compile this double CD, including 10 unpolished tracks he recorded with his band a few months before his death and a few other new tunes that he had taped on a home recorder. The songs, writes Guibert in heart-wrenching liner notes, "are the true 'remains' " of her son. Powerful, impassioned and haunting, they are a sadly fitting legacy—sketches of what might have been.
