The MSG Network announced on July 15 that it had rehired incisive sportscaster Marv Albert, 57, to host a half-hour TV show and to call radio play-by-play on about half the New York Knicks games. Last fall, Albert resigned from the same network after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault charges lodged by his ex-lover Vanessa Perhach, who accused him of biting and attacking her.
On July 9 a Los Angeles judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland, 30. Weiland had reportedly arrived at the courthouse that day to face drug charges but skedaddled before his case was called. The musician, who has been arrested twice in the past year for narcotics possession, faces a court date on another drug charge in New York City on July 31.
Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, 48, suffered minor burns to his legs and left arm when his Ferrari burst into flames on July 15 at a Scituate, Mass., filling station. Investigators think it might have been a faulty gas pump.

On July 20 police in Belfast charged a 23-year-old man with the July 12 firebombing triple murder of the Quinn brothers in Northern Ireland. Suspect Thomas Gilmour, a salesman, was a Ballymoney neighbor of victims Richard, 11, Mark, 10, and Jason, 9. Gilmour has denied the charges and was jailed pending an Aug. 12 court date.
Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch, 67, and his wife, novelist Anna Murdoch, 54, are calling it quits on their marriage after 31 years. She filed for divorce on July 21 in L.A., citing irreconcilable differences. The couple have three grown children.
