>SAVING PRIVATE RYAN It's nearly three hours long and some of the scenes depicting battlefield carnage are horrifyingly gruesome, but director Steven Spielberg's film about World War II is must viewing. It will stay with you long after you have left the theater. (R)

HALLOWEEN: H20 Non-fans of slasher films can skip this, but if you enjoy being scared, the seventh movie in the Halloween series will have you shrieking out loud. And all praise to Jamie Lee Curtis, who, back for a third tour, swings a mighty big ax. (R)

THE PARENT TRAP Looking for a film to take the kids to? Try this cute, clever remake of the 1961 movie about identical twins who, separated nearly at birth when their folks divorced, meet at summer camp and conspire to get the couple together again. (PG)
