Why is it in horror movies that threatened women always head straight for whatever's potentially menacing them rather than in the other direction? You would think a heroine, especially one who barely escaped with her life the last time out, would have learned better. But noooo. Straight to danger she goes.

So it is with waifish Hewitt (TV's Party of Five) in this gory, uninspired sequel to last year's teen slasher hit I Know What You Did Last Summer. She and her boyfriend (Freddie Prinze Jr.) are again being chased by a hook-wielding maniac dressed in a fisherman's mackintosh and rubber boots. He trails Hewitt to the Bahamas, where she and her buddies (Brandy, Mekhi Phifersee page 107—and Matthew Settle) are vacationing. Much screaming, fleeing and vicious hooking ensues, but little wit or irony. And Still Know's ending, an obvious setup for a third film, is an annoying cheat. (R)

Bottom Line: Get the hook
