Barbra Streisand just released a new single, "I've Dreamed of You," one of the two songs she sang to James Brolin at their July 1, 1998, wedding. It will be included in her next CD, A Love like Ours, due this fall. She heard the song—originally an instrumental titled "Heartstrings" by the European New Age duo Secret Garden—in Ireland, where Brolin was filming the drama My Brother's War in 1997. Captivated, Streisand acquired the rights to the song and asked Ann Hampton Callaway to write the lyrics. The result leaves no doubt that Brolin is truly the man of her dreams.
Living la vida loca may be catching up with Ricky Martin. I hear that while filming his latest music video, "She's All I Ever Had," at a ranch near L.A., Martin had an acupuncturist on the set to help relieve his tension headaches. When not getting stuck with needles, Martin spent most of the day getting in and out of a 1967 Black Citroen DS21, lip-synching the song in both Spanish and English. (The single will be released this month.) Martin's publicist says that there was an acupuncturist on the set but adds, "It's Ricky's business. That's private, and I stay out of my clients' personal lives."
A celebrity crowd converged on Warner Bros, chairman Terry Semel's house in L.A. to meet Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush. The guests even included a few stalwart Democrats like Warren Beatty. "Bush is very effective," Beatty says. "I don't know him very well, but he seems to be quite a good man like Al Gore and Bill Bradley, both of whom I know to be extremely good men. However, they're all sounding like good decent liberal Republicans, and I on the other hand am a Democrat. John McCain? Amazing man. Maybe a Bulworth Republican."
Actor Mekhi Phifer (Clockers, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer) was so anxious to get to the Black Film Festival in Acapulco on time that he shelled out $500 for a four-hour cab ride from Mexico City for himself and his fiancée, actress Malinda Williams. Phifer and Williams, who are expecting their first child on Aug. 30, had arrived in Mexico City only to learn they couldn't get a flight to Acapulco until the next day. Good thing they finally made it: An Invited Guest, a psychological thriller starring Phifer and Williams, won the domestic Best of Festival Award.

Demi Moore, looking very bohemian in a head wrap, black pants and boots, spent a recent Sunday night with one of her three daughters at the popular Wild Ginger restaurant in Seattle. Moore, who has kept a low profile since splitting with husband Bruce Willis last year, also dropped by the Seattle Planet Hollywood—one of the chain of theme restaurants originally bankrolled by Moore, Willis, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.
