>Battlefield Earth The major characters wear nose plugs for a reason: The movie stinks. John Travolta's pet sci-fi project is incoherent, boring and ugly to boot. (PG-13)

Center Stage Three teenage ballerinas gotta dance. It's Fame crossed with Flashdance, and you'd have to be 15 to believe a word. (PG-13)

Croupier Intriguing British thriller about a struggling novelist (Clive Owen) who gets a job as a croupier in a shady London casino and discovers that real life trumps fiction. (Not rated)

Gladiator Thumbs-up. Brawny Russell Crowe commands center arena in a rousing swords-and-sandal epic. (R)

Held Up Jamie Foxx is taken hostage during a convenience-store stickup out in the middle of nowhere. Junk food without even the benefit of artificial flavoring. (PG-13)

Screwed The title tells all. You will be exactly that if you sit through this mirthless misfire of a comedy about a botched kidnapping. Norm Macdonald should stick to TV. (PG-13)

28 Days Sandra Bullock excels as a party girl going through rehab. (PG-13)
